New and Nautical

For many of us who enjoy the Cape Cod Canal Bikeway, our prayers have been answered by the two-month-old Fishermen’s View restaurant, which at the end of a bicycle ride or a scenic walk offers an equally pleasant spot to kick back, grab a bite and a drink and gaze out at the lively parade of boats on the water. (Of course if you’d rather drive here, that’s perfectly fine.) Depending on your mood, choose a table inside, on the deck or on the patio, and depending on your level of hunger, order a full meal, a salad or a sandwich. There’s also an adjoining seafood market. Owned by local fishermen Bob and Denny Colbert, who have plied their trade out of the Sandwich Marina for more than three decades, this very special spot serves the freshest seafood available. Start with a tidbit from the raw bar menu like local oysters or tuna sashimi, share grilled shark tacos as an appetizer, and follow these with a generous grilled swordfish steak or subtly spiced fried seafood and excellent fries. A sandwich of lobster knuckles—considered the best part—sounds decadent, as does the lobster Fra Diavolo for two. We highly recommend a casual bite at the very long bar, where you’re sure to be mesmerized by the view and spoiled by the bar crew.  — Janice Randall Rohlf
