Authentic Italian Dishes

Scribano’s Italian Market and Deli in Harwich opened last summer to rave reviews. The restaurant, once the site of Seafood Sam’s, and more recently, the Lobster Hut, serves authentic Italian dishes in a casual setting. After hearing so many friends and co-workers praise the pasta and affordable pricing, I couldn’t resist trying it. During a recent visit, they were running a chicken Parmigiana special: $7.95, plus tax (dine-in only; add .50 cents for takeout). Available only on Fridays, the special comes with a perfectly sized portion of chicken Parmesan, a side of pasta and red sauce, and a couple slices of crunchy, well-seasoned bread for dipping.  The menu also features hot and sweet sausages and eggplant Parmigiana as well as sandwiches, subs and a rotating lineup of homemade soups. They also have a well-stocked deli and pre-made soups, pasta and sauce to heat and eat at home. For those with a sweet tooth, Scribano’s offers mini cannolis and a selection of creamy gelato and fruity Italian ice. On my next trip, I will have to try their sea salt caramel gelato!  Rachel Arroyo
