The Wellfleet Beachcomber left everyone shell-shucked after hosting their annual ClamJam fundraiser on June 5. Organized by the Beachcomber Cycling Team (a dedicated group of athletes who will represent the restaurant in the Pan-Mass Challenge in August), the event raised $19,500 for cancer research. Everyone over the age of 16 was asked to donate $30 to the cause upon entering the Beachcomber. Employees volunteered their service for the occasion and free food was provided—including clam chowder, rawoysters, steamers, steamed little necks, mussels, boneless buffalo wings, chicken fingers, salad, watermelon, and of course, fried seafood. Following a silent auction, free music got everyone back on their feet, featuring the children’s band The Elbows, Sarah Swainand the Oh Boys!, The Rip It Ups, and the Flakes. With summer on the rise, theBeachcomber will continue to be a hub for food and tunes, with upcoming shows from Donovan Frankenreiter, G. Love, The Figgs, The Boston Naturals, SOJA, DJ Emerson, DJ Bud E. Green, Turquoise Jeep, John Brown’s Body, Fishbone, Dick Dale and manymore!
