The robust dining scene on Main Street in Hyannis has added another act to its stage with Downtown Bistro. Catering to adults, this newcomer has a sophisticated setting, an upbeat cast of servers and encore-inspiring cuisine. The inviting, fully renovated 60-seat dining area and 14-seat bar bustle with devoted regulars and first-timers who appreciate the custom leather seating accented with animal patterns, warm wood tabletops, metal Moroccan drop lights and fire torches out front. “I incorporated elements from nature,” says owner Tim Gaudette, who opened the bistro a year ago. Head chef and Cape Cod native Tommy Fuller creates a sushi of the day, as well other Asian-inspired dishes like crab-lobster sliders, seared tuna tataki and Thai seafood cioppino. For patrons preferring continental items, there are many delicious options, including scallop carbonara, penne à la vodka, grilled filet mignon, poulet l’orange and New York steak au poivre (my favorite!), pictured above. Enjoy the show!
