In the mid-1980s, a group of residents planted hundreds of daffodils along Route 6A in Brewster to mark the beginning of spring. From this, the Brewster in Bloom festival was born. But the more important charitable cause of the festival is to raise money for the community. The first festival funded the construction of the bandstand at Drummer Boy Park. Since then, proceeds benefit the Elder Brewster Scholarship Fund, which has provided more than $54,000 to help Brewster students further their education. Events include a Brewster band concert, a juried fine arts and crafts show and 5K run.
