Falmouth Swimsuit Designer Navigates Her Own Path

Designer Molly J. Curley of East Falmouth launched her own line of nautically inspired swimwear last year. A favorite among customers is this patriotic All-American Girl suit.

For fashion model and business school graduate Molly J. Curley, 23, of East Falmouth, launching a line of swimwear was a natural next step in a life lived close to the sea and focused on fashion. “Being from the Cape, I love being around the water,” says Curley, a swimsuit designer who comes from a family of entrepreneurs. “Swimwear was a natural for me.”

In April of 2017, Curley started Molly J Swimwear, her own collection of nautically inspired bathing suits. Curley’s line of high-quality swimwear is sold at select retailers on the Cape, such as Green Eyed Daisy in Falmouth, Hi-Ho in Osterville and Beach Bum Surf Co. in Chatham. A favorite among her customers is the patriotic All-American Girl suit, perfect for July 4 yet styled to be worn anytime the sun shines. For her company logo, Molly chose the compass rose—inspired by a necklace she received from her parents on her 21st birthday. “I wanted the swimwear to have an inspirational aspect to it,” says Molly, “so it’s all about creating one’s own path, navigating one’s destiny.”  Marjorie Naylor Pitts
