Chocolate-dipped bacon, PB and J drumsticks, s’mores pizza. If you’ve dreamed of it, the new Father’s Kitchen & Taphouse probably has it. Formerly the Bee-Hive Tavern, in Sandwich, Father’s can fulfill your most “sin”-novative cravings, with craft brews to match.
Brothers John and Matt Downs, owners of Flynn’s Irish Pub in Sagamore, Mansfield and Cedarville, took over the cozy establishment this past winter. The pair kept the original building intact and added a new 16-seat rustic bar. Forty-two craft beers on draft rotate throughout the seasons. Father’s is the perfect spot to enjoy a homemade beer pretzel, served salty (stuffed with beer cheese) or sweet (stuffed with beer-infused peanut butter and served with a maple glaze sauce) to go with your brew selection.
Also on the menu are over-the-top burgers, everything from bacon cheeseburger rolls stuffed with Father’s signature seasoned beef to a burger topped with habañero pepper relish and ghost pepper—one of the hottest peppers in the world— jack cheese. Lots of beer required to put out that fire!—Jacquelyn Mysliwiec
