Girlygirl Power

Lace up your running shoes and unleash your girl power at the 6th annual girlygirl P.A.R.T.S. 5k Run/Walk for Ovarian Cancer, which has a new time and location this year: 9 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 20, at Craigville Beach in Centerville. Founded in 2008 by Jill Di-Tommaso, who was diagnosed with ovarian cancer, and friend Laura Smith, girlygirl P.A.R.T.S.—Pre-screening Awareness Required To Silence (ovarian cancer)—has donated more than $400,000 to a fund that researches pre-screening tools for ovarian cancer at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Individuals who raise $1,500 or more and teams raising $3,000 or more will gain preferred access to a V.I.P. tent, complete with treats and activities. Participants can register online ($30 for adults, $15 for children) or on site during race weekend ($40 for adults, $20 for children). Runners and walkers will receive a T-shirt and bag of girlygirl goodies from 4-6:30 p.m. the evening prior to the race at Craigville Beach.
