Red Hot

There is a lot of love baked into Red’s, Harwich Center’s newest pizza place. “We made the space our own,” says Adam Smith, who co-owns the business with his sister-in-law Brianne Smith.  Formerly occupied by the Mexican restaurant Andale Café at the corner of Routes 124 and 39, the restaurant has been completely remodeled. The menu, of course, showcases pizza (including a pizza with locally caught scallops and crispy bacon, a favorite of both owners), hot calzones and fresh salads.  But, there is also a selection of specialty sandwiches on ciabatta bread. Try the ham and Brie cheese sandwich with mustard, called the “Ham & Bri,” after the owners’ nicknames, or the Thanksgiving sandwich—tasty any time of year—with homemade stuffing and cranberry sauce. Brianne, who is also the cook, makes all of the mouthwatering sauces and dips from scratch in-house. Customers can order at the counter and then sit at a table or booth, or take food to go. However, the comfortable new bar, topped with a fun nautical chart of Nantucket Sound, makes the perfect perch to sit and enjoy a glass of wine and a slice of taco pizza, a fitting dish for a new pizza place at the site of a former Mexican restaurant.  Red’s is open for lunch and dinner daily.
