Scribano’s Italian Market and Deli opened this summer to rave reviews. It has been a while since I’ve heard such positive buzz about a new dining spot. The restaurant, once the site of Seafood Sam’s, and more recently, the Lobster Hut, serves authentic Italian dishes in a casual setting.
After hearing so many friends and co-workers praise the pasta and affordable pricing, I couldn’t resist stopping in last weekend; and lucky me, because they were running a chicken Parmigiana special: $7.95, plus tax (dine-in only; add .50 cents for takeout). Available only from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Fridays, the special comes with a perfectly sized portion of chicken Parmesan, a side of pasta and red sauce and a couple slices of crunchy, well-seasoned bread for dipping.
The menu also features hot and sweet sausages and peppers, meatballs, spinach balls and eggplant Parmigiana, as well as sandwiches, subs and a rotating lineup of homemade soups. They also have a well-stocked deli and pre-made soups, pasta and sauce to heat and eat at home. For those with a sweet tooth, Scribano’s also offers mini cannolis and a selection of creamy gelato and fruity Italian ice.
On my next trip, because I will definitely be back, I will have to try their sea salt caramel gelato. Winter hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday.
