Q&A with Sandy Mullins of Cape Chic

Meet Sandy Mullins, owner of Cape Chic.

How long have you owned Cape Chic

Since April 2013. I’ve been in business five years and I am just starting year six!

Where is your new location? How is it different from your last place?

I moved the store to 176 Main St. in Falmouth last year. It’s less than a half mile from my old location, but it’s right on Main Street now. It’s sandwiched between two wonderful gift stores, Homespun and Twigs, and a few fabulous restaurants, like Añejo and the Pickle Jar Kitchen. I’m right in the middle of all the town activity.

What do you sell at your store?

A curated selection of easy chic women’s clothing, jewelry and accessories. Distinctive styles you won’t see everywhere. We pay attention to what our customers respond to, so we can surprise and delight them. We want our pieces to be their favorite go-to pieces.

What are some of your best-selling items?

Customers have been responding to our Boho Chic tops. The finishing details and fit make them perfect for dressy and casual wear. XCVI Wearables are also a favorite. The stretch poplin is lightweight and easy, perfect for Cape Cod in the summer. This season, it’s all about the embellished hems, including embroidery and release hems.

What sets you apart?

We spend a lot of time curating unique items for our customers and choosing styles for every age group. It’s important to search for the best styles and fabrics. Fashion is fun and constantly changing. It provides people a way to express themselves. Fashion should be chic, as well as easy, wearable and comfortable for real life.
